Since the first news on television and stories of the war flooded the social media feeds about the war in Europe students crowded around teachers to ask them about it. At home, parents had the same questions and help their kids .
"In a conflict that has been called the world’s “first TikTok war,” children and teenagers have had access to a mass of information that is often unverified and troubling, and may trigger anxieties."
There was some anxiety mixed into the questions, and they were using adult terminology they didn’t fully understand, but it was a hot topic for all our students.

Hundreds of schools have been destroyed during the war in Ukraine. Anxiety and fear are common reactions to the events in Ukraine, but students also want more knowledge and understanding, especially as the situation worsens.
I remembered September 11. Students came to school and entered in the classroom after lunch. They saw in the news the terrific images direct on television.
"It was a school day like every other day. Lunch time. Some teachers appeared at school before the beginning of the classes and told us to watch the news on the television. We stopped our lunch and went to Teachers' room."
War is dreadful, and the images of Ukraine’s bombardments are so cruel. After two years of pandemic, it’s important to keep in mind the social and emotional wellbeing of students while talking and explaining lessons from Ukraine.
“It’s a difficult one, isn’t it?” said a teacher in her elementary school classroom “My instinct would be to protect you,” she reasoned.

Some European children are worried that the war in Ukraine could spread to their own countries.
"As Europeans have grappled with the shock of facing a war on their doorstep and a frenzied news cycle, many teachers have had little time to process what was happening — they had to provide answers, and fast."
The job of teachers is to help students understand and process the news at an age-appropriate level while giving them opportunities to dig more deeply into the events, make connections to the history of Europe.
I'm sure all the teachers and parents are doing their best.

In the United States and other countries, the students would come back to school but we are not sure about in-person lessons due the difficult pandemic time. However students and teachers could follow on national television Tokyo 2020. They will be talking about their heroes, the athletes from different sports. Teachers are already preparing their in-person lessons or distance learning and they will include the Olympic Games and sport values into school curricula, for sure. They can't lose this wonderful experience! Such a great resource for different curricula.
Games Vision are the most innovative in history. It brought positive reform to the world by building on three core concepts:

“Passing on Legacy for the future” (Connecting to Tomorrow).
Under the tagline, “Know Differences, Show Differences”, Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) is essential to achieving the Games Vision and delivering successful Games. As such, D&I is being incorporated into all the aspects of Games planning and operations.

Every four years, the Olympic Games create worldwide excitement as athletes from across the globe compete for a prestigious place on the podium. With stories of hard-work, determination, sacrifice, Olympians are great role models for students of any age to show that practice, practice, practice is the way to achieve their goals.
From sports to geography, I picked some of the best Olympic-themed teaching resources to help you encourage both individual achievement and teamwork, while inspiring your students to strive for gold in the classroom. Wow! It will be amazing.
I am sure that a lot of students will want to talk about it. Japanese students are the luckiest because some of them are at the Olympic stadium with their parents watching live or participating as volunteers.
But there will be a big number all over the world that are watching live on television or on the Internet day by day, following their favorite athletes and sports. And the most curious will know a lot about OG sharing ideas in-person lessons or distance learning.
Teachers have been watching Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as well, and they are wondering how they might include the OG into the curriculum if they are teaching at this time of the year. Pandemic Covid-19 changed a lot time of school teaching as we all know.
As I wrote, I will share with educators some subjects that might interest them for now and/or next school season.Tokyo 2020 is a very good subject. Values in sport too.

To produce the Olympic medals, The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) conducted the “Tokyo 2020 Medal Project” to collect small electronic devices such as used mobile phones from all over Japan.
This project makes Tokyo 2020 the first in the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to involve citizens in the production of medals, and to manufacture the medals using recycled metals.
