J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore website will release four ebooks next June, 'bitesize' non-fiction that the Rowling said will explore “the traditional folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories”. 

Each is themed on a subject around lessons studied at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts, A Journey Through Potions and Herbology, A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy, and A Journey Through Care of Magical Creatures all on the way.

Potter fans have something to celebrate again! JK Rowling has announced the release of four new digital books for the benefit of his readers. 

Despite the journey that began more than 20 years ago with the release of Harry Potter’s first book in 1997, fans remain loyal and enthusiastic every time new content comes out. So true!

Readers must prepare to deepen the rich history of magic (whether it’s its own muggle story or the magical world created by JK Rowling) with this new series of shorts for ebooks, once again to learn more about traditional folklore and magic at the heart of Harry Potter’s stories.

My thoughts:

As of last year (2018, US) and two years ago (2017 UK) it’s been 20 years since the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The two decades that followed the first book’s publication saw a beloved series follow suit and whirlwind fandom fall in love with it. Rowling has continued to keep the fire burning, too, by releasing new novels, games, musicals, and films like Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It seems she doesn’t plan to stop expanding the Potterverse anytime soon.

So here we are again! All this is about a very well-known magical story. Harry Potter books contain some Gothic elements, such as an atmosphere of mystery and suspense, some inexplicable - all about magic - events, supernatural creatures and occurrences such as prophecies and visions. Young people love it! Potterheads and new readers will be tuned, for sure.

In sum, the Harry Potter magical novels are mesmerising page turners. I highly recommend them for any age group of students. Teachers, schools, teachers  must prepare for the new great moment. Your students will want to read the new ebooks!

Le deuxième film, très attendu par les Potterhead du monde entier, relate les aventures de l’auteur du livre Les Animaux Fantastiques qu’étudiait Harry Potter.

Le premier film, sorti en novembre 2016, a été un triomphe. Il est également le premier long-métrage issu de l’univers d’Harry Potter à avoir décroché un Oscar (celui des meilleurs costumes).

Avec Les Animaux Fantastiques, J.K. Rowling renouvelle avec brio la saga d'Harry Potter avec un nouvel univers tout aussi fantastique.

Une belle réussite pour J.K. Rowling qui parvient à passionner ses lecteurs, 20 ans après la sortie d'Harry Potter à l'école des sorciers en France. S'ensuite les sept volumes de ses aventures et les films réalisés, pour certains, par David Yates. Le même à qui l'ont doit Les Animaux Fantastiques. Voilà.

Le tournage s'est déroulé au Royaume-Uni et à Paris. L'occasion pour les fans français de croiser leurs sorciers préférés? Eh! Oui.

Synopsis:

1927. Quelques mois après sa capture, le célèbre sorcier Gellert Grindelwald s'évade comme il l'avait promis et de façon spectaculaire. Il s'agit donc, du deuxième opus d’une saga qui en comptera cinq en tout, tous réalisés par David Yates, déjà réalisateur des 4 derniers films Harry Potter. 

Cette suite s’annonce plus sombre puisqu’elle s’intéressera plus amplement à Gellert Grindelwald, le sorcier noir, incarné par Johnny Depp, le grand méchant adepte de magie noire, et à sa relation avec Dumbledore jeune.

Le moment est venu de découvrir Jude Law dans la peau du professeur Dumbledore, Johnny Depp comme nous ne l'avons jamais vu, de nouvelles créatures extraordinaires sous l’œil bienveillant de Norbert Dragonneau mais surtout des effets spéciaux spectaculaires !

Voilà  un an que le film  Les Animaux fantastiques  est sorti en France. Et alors que les fans se languissent de voir le deuxième volet de la nouvelle saga de J.K. Rowling, qui sera dans les salles en novembre 2018, une première image assez intrigante a été dévoilée sur le compte Twitter de la franchise. 

Il s’agit d’une demande de voyage faite par Norbert Dragonneau (Eddie Redmayne) au Ministère de la magie et à en croire le tampon qu’il y a sur la feuille, elle a été refusée. La raison ? « Sujet qui ne souhaite pas coopérer et évasif sur les raisons de son dernier voyage ».

Après la nouvelle bande-annonce, en juillet 2018, Les Crimes de Grindelwald dévoilée, le résultat? Le sort du monde entier ne dépendra que d’une seule personne : Norbert Dragonneau (joué par l’excellent Eddie Redmayne). Epaulé par un Albus Dumbledore très jeune (incarné par Jude Law), le sorcier farfelu sera notamment amené à voyager à Paris, pour combattre Gellert Grindelwald, qui a réussi à s’échapper après son arrestation à la fin du premier film.

Dans cette nouvelle bande-annonce, on assiste à un flashback nous ramenant à Poudlard, lorsque Dumbledore n’était encore que Professeur de Défense contre les Forces du Mal. Et c’est là l’une des nombreuses références que ce trailer fait à la saga Harry Potter.

On y aperçoit également le retour du Miroir du Riséd, ainsi que Nicolas Flamel, inventeur de la Pierre Philosophale. Deux éléments phares que l’on a pu découvrir dans le premier opus de la saga, Harry Potter à l’école des sorciers.

Tout au long de ses aventures, Norbert Dragonneau sera accompagné de ses acolytes du premier film, Tina, Queenie et Jacob, en plus de vivre une romance avec Leta Lestrange (Zoë Kravitz), qui devrait, elle aussi, être au cœur du récit. 

La sortie du film dans les salles françaises est prévu pour novembre prochain. On a hâte.

Education:

On pensait avoir fait le tour du monde Harry Potter, surtout après 7 tomes de ses aventures qui se finissent par la destruction de Voldemort, le grand méchant, et le mariage d'Harry et Ginny. 

Mais, c'est sans compter sur l'imagination débordante de J.K. Rowling qui a ensuite dévoilé Harry Potter et l'Enfant Maudit en octobre dernier et 3 e-books. 

Plus encore, la romancière continue de nous entraîner dans le monde de la magie avec encore une autre aventure, cette fois-ici 70 ans avant la saga du petit sorcier. 

Et les fans répondent bien sûr, Présents! Parce que le succès d'Harry Potter est retentissant de part le monde et que le film possède des liens avec cet univers.

Sans oublier qu'il reste de nombreuses choses à découvrir avec ce nouvel épisode. Norbert Dragonneau, les sorciers et sorcières américains, Gellert Grindelwald, des créatures fantastiques de toutes beauté, la "jeunesse" de Dumbledore.

Désormais, les Moldus vont avoir à leur tour la possibilité d'apprendre où vit le Quintaped, ce que mange le Puffskein et pourquoi il vaut mieux ne pas laisser dans le jardin une soucoupe de lait destinée à un Knarl..."

Voilà, j'avoue, je suis aussi une potterhead puisque j'ai lu avec mes élèves, les premiers potterheads (1998), je suis allé au ciné voir toute la saga et ils ont ainsi appris le récit ou littérature narrative où à une époque, il n'y avait pas de livres intéressants à lire, sauf les grands classiques.

Bon, rien de mieux que lire le livre - on peut même feuilleter en ligne - et inviter vos élèves à visiter le site Pottermore pour suivre toutes les nouvelles de Les Crimes de Grindelwald (mis-à-jour presque quotidiennement) en attendant d'aller voir au ciné le prochain novembre 2018, en visite d'étude le deuxième volet avec vos élèves.

A bien préparer les activités à développer en classe. N'oubliez de programmer en débat avec les étudiants. Ils aiment bien se prononcer sur leurs apprentissages.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a mobile adventure game which will allow players to become students at the wizarding school. It was launched on 25 April 2018.

I couldn't write about the new Harry Potter game before, because there were important subjects on the last days in April and first days in May. You know it!

Here the announcement on last April 25 on Pottermore:

"It’s time to create a new Hogwarts student, choose your house, and attend classes at the one and only Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the new mobile game, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, which launches today. First of all, here’s the trailer to whet your appetite one last time"

Created by games studio Jam City, Hogwarts Mystery is the first offering from Portkey Games, the new games label launched by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

I won’t lie! My potterheads in the 90's hoped every day that they might get a letter from Hogwarts, some of them Nicknamed Potter as a family name. Oh! dear! By that age, the existence of a secret school in the Highlands of Scotland seemed so possible! 

They imagined Hogwarts would be much the same as our school, but for wizards instead of extremely posh children. They wrote letters to Hogwarts school hoping to have an answer. They were aged 9-11. On that age, imagination has no boundaries. Everything is wionder!

Hogwarts Mystery takes players into the acclaimed institution to live and learn as a pupil. But don’t expect to see familiar faces among the student body.

The game revealed on the Pottermore site features six actors reprising their roles from the Harry Potter films including Michael Gambon as Professor Dumbledore, Dame Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall and Warwick Davis as Professor Flitwick.

Also appearing are Sally Mortemore as Madam Irma Pince, Gemma Jones as Madam Pomfrey and Zoë Wanamaker as Madam Hooch.

The first Harry Potter games in more than 6 years, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery seems to attempt to fulfil that childhood fantasy.

Narration: Characters & experiences

It's a soft narrative game that offers an uncomplicated Hogwarts experience, letting students pick their house, from friendships and rivalries and master spells in the famous castle. 

The writing in the early scenes, however, is a little bland. It makes a good attempt at capturing Snape’s sardonic disdai, but there’s not much flair to it. It doesn’t have the fizz and personality of the books. No.

Described as 'a story-driven mobile narrative role-playing game', Hogwarts Mystery will see players/students creating their own student characters, attending classes, learning spells and taking part in Duelling Club. 

It will be possible to build friendships – and rivalries – as the story evolves, with key decisions affecting the character arc, while a new encounter system will provide pivotal moments that will shape each quest.

The story is set prior to The Chosen One’s arrival at Hogwarts. Instead,  players /students have the opportunity to make their own narrative choices and engage with the wizarding world setting to create new and unique experiences. 

Young students can write their own chapters, without being overshadowed by Harry Potter’s fame.

As well as being able to attend Hogwarts classes, go to Flying Class lessons, visit their chosen house’s common room (finally! A proper look inside Hufflepuff’s!), enrage Snape, or simply make new friends.

The game invites kids to twist the narrative in different directions, as well as giving their character a mysterious backstory.

But it’s all about the little details too: in every conversation young new potterheads choice dictates their character. And not just the character. For example, Pottermore "recommended one of it new friends Rowan a cool new hat, and we’re thrilled to say she took our advice in a later scene.

Some notes:
Hogwarts Mystery really captures something of the Hogwarts fantasy. It’s set in the 1980´s when Harry was still a baby, so there are no conversations with Draco or Ron, but there are cameos from other well-known characters in their younger days. 
For students who love Harry Potter books, there’s a thrill to trying out your first wand in Olivander’s.
And of course for teachers who want to include games into school curriculum to captivate young and new potterheads. An of course teach narration.
Oh! Perhaps are you a young teacher around 25-30 years, first potterheads generation?
