Looking back 2019 I've come up with a roundup of what's been the best post of my blog The Digital Teacher G-Souto. 

As I do during the first days in January every year, I am taking some time off to relax with family and prepare for the new year. Yes! We will have the Three Kings Festive Day on the 6 January. Not so important as in Spain, but important. It's the end of the Feast of Epiphany.







Below you’ll find the top posts along the first semester 2019 containing different themes: education & technology, apps, languages, arts, science, history, environment, literature, e-safety, bullying, sports, dance, children's rights among other.


The selection is based on page views but also based on pedagogical relevance of the most-read posts.

I kept the order of the most viewed, but eliminated the posts that seemed less relevant. The main reason? Sometimes some posts acquire too much visibility, not for their value but for the keywords that the search engines "like" indexing.

Je suis ravie de partager avec vous le Top des billets les plus lus sur mon blog The Digital Teacher G-Souto, 1er semestre 2019 . Vous êtes de plus en plus nombreux à me suivre quotidiennement. Je me rends compte que les étudiants aussi me visitent.

Je vous en remercie, chers enseignants, chers lecteurs, de votre intérêt et m’efforce d’être toujours au plus proche d'événements concernant des idées pédagogiques afin de vous présenter des ressources et outils pédagogiques, au numérique ou pas. My tribute of the #1st semester 2019?  Women in STEM : Katie Bouman & the Black Hole ! 

An international team of over 200 astronomers, including scientists from MIT’s Haystack Observatory, has captured the first direct images of a black hole. They accomplished this remarkable feat by coordinating the power of eight major radio observatories on four continents, to work together as a virtual, Earth-sized telescope.

Behind every scientific discovery, big or small, is the story of those who dedicate their lives to discovery. This time, a young female assistant professor is leading the charge. Katie Bouman, a young scientist, 29 years-old, professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences who created the algorithm that that led to the production of the first-ever image of a black holepermitted taking the photography.


As a woman, I felt proud to know about her research focuses on computational imaging, designing systems that tightly integrate algorithm and sensor design, making it possible to observe phenomena previously difficult or impossible to measure with traditional approaches. 

Congratulations Dr. Katie Bouman ! She could finally told her family about the picture!

So Til' the Season : Santa Tracker, books & films ! Bright Christmas !

Let Seuss’ famous green creature help you count down the days to Christmas! A great addition to holiday décor, this easy-to-hang sign features the Grinch’s furry hand holding an ornament with chalkboard space to write how many days left till December 25th.

Millions of children go to sleep on Christmas Eve, excitedly awaiting the delivery of their presents from Santa Claus.

The most wonderful time of year is nearly here, with less than two days to go until Christmas Day. During the festive season, millions of children count down the days of December and go to sleep on Christmas Eve, excitedly awaiting the delivery of their Christmas gifts from the beloved Santa Claus. 

From the history behind NORAD’s holiday role to finding out what time you can expect an appearance down your chimney, here is everything you need to know about Santa’s busiest night of the year.

Throughout the year, the US and Canadian organisation NORAD, monitors aerospace in event of nuclear attack, but when Christmas Eve comes around they monitor the skies for Santa’s sleigh. 


Every year, the NORAD Tracks Santa website receives nearly nine million unique visitors from more than 200 countries and territories across the globe who are keen to follow Santa on his journey. 
On December 24, 1,500 volunteers respond to emails and receive more than 140,000 calls regarding Santa’s exact whereabouts. 


The festive website was launched on December 1, with a holiday countdown, games and activities, a code lab, a Santa selfie, holiday traditions and so much more, all available in a range of languages.

There is so much fun! Both are so creative! However there is some learning too. Traditions, geography, local music, games, coding, languages (it will depend of the language kids decide to interact).

How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a children's story by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel written in rhymed verse with illustrations by the author. It follows the Grinch, a grumpy, solitary creature who attempts to put an end to Christmas by stealing Christmas-themed items from the homes of the nearby town Whoville on Christmas Eve. Miraculously, the Grinch realizes that Christmas may not all be about money and presents.
