Steve Jobs : my tribute as a teacher to Mr. Jobs !

Steve Jobs [1955-2011]

As an teacher, I would like to remember Steve Jobs as an innovative mind or a "visionary and creative genius" in the field of educational technology. This is my tribute.

With his creativity, Steve Jobs helped me and you, as teachers and practitioners to bring appealing digital devices and digital resources into school curriculum.

Time
Steve Jobs

He have inspired me to be great and better changing the way I teach, using educative technology.

Teaching and learning with smartphones, iPods and iPads has become  so exciting to students and teachers. School curricula become more captivating to  students and easier to teachers, enhancing digital skills in formal or informal learning.

Mr. Jobs revolutionized completely the concept of education bringing a captivating technology in Education and help teachers igniting the creativity in students. Smartphones, and iPod were on the hands of all students. Why not include those devices into the classroom! So, I did it and my students were very enthusiastic and they really used them for learning.

As an innovative educator since the 90's it was a joy to share my dreams and projects with my students: practicing formal learning and non formal learning.

Later, I include tablets/iPads when they arrived to Portugal. And I wrote How I love iPad2 in the classroom: "So, as a teacher, I can say that iPad will "change the learning landscape"! iPad 2 will change completely the way educators and students will move in the classroom!"

Steve Jobs
I was fascinated about it! Still  am...

In 2009 I explained on my blog post Digital Schools versus Digital Teachers: " I did not grow up with Technology. It grew up with me, and I was there every step of the way. A "digital pioneer" who is doing a enthusiastic job infusing technology meaningfully into teaching and learning."

And Now Alice for the iPad, iPad features & Education?, Some apps for iPad helping education and other posts about iPad or other devices in the classroom.  You will find different posts on technology enhancing education on my blog along the years.

If you visit Apple website you can go directly to Apple in Education and you will realize that you have a gorgeous world about iPad apps to include into the school curriculum (some are free).

"Every child is born full of creativity. Nurturing it is one of the most important things educators do. Creativity makes your students better communicators and problem solvers. It prepares them to thrive in today’s world — and to shape tomorrow’s."

Teachers as us are always thinking how can we captivating students to a better school performance. So, students understood immediately how the iPad could help their creativity and learning in the classroom. And they did incredible experiences. You have a lot of videos on YouTube about the iPad in Education.

"You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle".

Steve Jobs, I to live before you die
at Stanford University

So sad! Steve Jobs has passed away. Thank you dear Mr. Jobs for your genius and remarkable strides in all fields, especially in Education.

Al Gore: Our Choice, a digital book

Mike Matas & Kimon Tsinteris (Push-Press engeneers)

"I am so thrilled that Our Choice has come to life on iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch" (...) "Readers can now learn about the solutions to the climate crisis using some of the most visually compelling and interactive technology available."

Al Gore

Al Gore, the former vice president’s production company Melcher Media approached Mike Matas in September 2009 to create an app version of Our Choice

Gore wanted his book app to contain videos, diagrams and other forms of multimedia that would flex on iPad, iPhone and iPod.

Gore’s book, which lives in the App Store since April 28, is in part a demonstration of the capabilities of Push Pop Press, (San Francisco, USA) Mike Matas & Kimon Tsinteris new company. They were Apple formal engeneers.

"It’s a bit like walking through a digital museum. When you first launch the app, you see a cover of a 3-D animation of a spinning globe with the title superimposed over it. Tapping into the intro plays a video of Gore introducing the book’s topic."

"I'm excited to announce my new app, Our Choice is going on sale today. It is a fully interactive full-length book App that describes all of the solutions to the climate crisis with animations, interactive info-graphics, pictures, audio, text, an hour of documentary video and more. I am donating 100% of the proceeds I would otherwise receive to the Alliance for Climate Protection."

Al Gore, April 28 2011

Education:

A rich app to motivate the students for Climate change in Sciences, Geography, Civics classrooms!

It's impossible not to share such a wonderful interactive book! I would like to have this type of e-textbook in my classroom. And of course, my students too.

"It is now abundantly clear that we have at our fingertips all of the tools we need to solve the climate crisis. The only missing ingredient is collective will."
