My usual readers. teachers and students could read some tips about AI in education on my last post Education: Best of 2024 - semester1. I hope it could be useful for all of you.

Recent technological advancements like AI have brought numerous opportunities for teachers and students.

AI enables the access of new educational materials online and the swift sharing of information, facilitating seamless and secure connections among learners.

"Physical distances and language barriers are no longer constraints for students and teachers, who can now engage in virtual teaching and learning from virtually anywhere. The emergence of distance or online learning technologies has paved the way for tailored coursework and blended learning approaches."

I, Human
Ai, Automation and the Quest to Reclaim
What Makes Us Unique
Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic

But challenges to. It will be interesting to introduce you an interrogation... "Will artificial intelligence improve the way we work and live, or will it alienate us? The choice is ours. What will we decide?"

So, I invite you, teachers and older students to read the boook I, Human by Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic. In his book, the psychologist Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic offers a guide for reclaiming ourselves in a world in which most of our decisions will be made for us.

"Though AI has the potential to change our lives for the better", he argues, "AI is also worsening our bad tendencies, making us more distracted, selfish, biased, narcissistic, entitled, predictable, and impatient."

Filled with big-think fascinations and practical wisdom, I, Human is the book we need to thrive in the future.

Teaching is not an easy job, But it's one of the most rewarding. Being a teacher is a really complex job and the increased mainstream adoption of AI in schools or universities means the relationship between teachers and students will undoubtedly be different.

History in School : The 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Auschwitz Birkenau !

"At a time when survivors and direct witnesses of the Holocaust are growing fewer, it is vital to further invest in education to pass on memory to younger generations.  as well as to combat contemporary forms of antisemitism. Since it’s creation, UNESCO has been resolutely committed to carrying out this mission. Over the past ten years, we have led such actions in 85 countries."

Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director-General

Every year around 27 January, UNESCO pays tribute to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to counter antisemitism, racism, and other forms of intolerance that may lead to group-targeted violence. The date marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz Birkenau German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp by Soviet troops on 27 January 1945. It was officially proclaimed, in November 2005

27 January 2025 will mark the 80ᵉ anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration and extermination camp. On the occasion of the International Day dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, more than 250 students from middle schools in Paris and the Paris region joined together at UNESCO for a significant and meaningful event.

Education

Almost one million men, women and children were killed there because they were Jewish mostly as soon as they arrived. In total, Nazis murdered 1,100,000 people at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

As genocide and atrocity crimes keep occurring across several regions, and as we are witnessing a global rise of antisemitism and hate speech, this has never been so relevant.

Marking the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp, UNESCO is launching a guide for teachers and a set of lesson activities to support countering Holocaust denial and distortion through education.

UNESCO also published three new sets of guidelines for teachers and journalists to combat Holocaust denial and disinformation, while supporting the creation of a new center for research and education on extremism in the former house of the Auschwitz commander.

The Guide for teachers and the Lesson activities for secondary education delve into the specifics of how Holocaust denial and anti-Semitic discourse appear online and in the classroom, while also offering survivor testimonies and lessons plans to help teachers develop their pupils' knowledge and critical thinking skills in the face of disinformation about the Holocaust.
