The UEFA European Championship is one of the world's biggest sporting events, although the competition's genesis was more difficult than might be expected.

Championships for national associations had already begun in other continents by the time the idea of a European competition for national teams began to reach fruition in the 1950s

Last 14 June 2024, the celebration of 70 years of European football! UEFA was founded on that day in 1954! Bravo !

Germany is hosting EURO 2024 having been chosen to stage the 17th edition of UEFA European Championship at a UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Nyon on 2018.

This is the first time Germany has staged the UEFA European Championship since nreunification

At the time that UEFA was born, in 1954, the impetus for a European Championship was coming from the distinguished French sports newspaper L'Equipe, which proposed a competition with home-and-away matches to be played in midweek in the evening.

Activities for teachers & students:

Many students are writing about the enthusiasm on football EURO 2024 and the teams of their countries since EURO 2024 began.

Well, as extra and funny hobby, between tests and exams, teachers can do some funny learning activities about Europe and a popular sport as football.

Young people might enjoy learning about the countries taking part in EURO 2024, particularly Germany watching the video UEFA TV and the 10 German host cities, which are hosting the tournaments.

Invite students to find each of the 21 countries' flag and then locate the competing nations on a map of Europe

Which teams will have to travel furthest from home to play in the competition?

And what about a 'Code of Conduct'? If kids and teens were invited to give the national squad a list of rules to follow, what would it be?

Ok. So it's time to end the EURO 2024 and begin the rundown of the most read posts in January& February.
