Today is the 120th anniversary of the first Modern Olympic Games, which started in Athens, Greece in 1896. Officially called the Games of the I Olympiad, the events took place inside the Panathenaic Stadium

The doodle – four versions designed by Olivia Huynh, each featuring a different event from the Games – honours the 1896 Games of the I Olympiad in Athens, which involved nine sports and 43 events in the Panathenaic StadiumMost noteworthy was the marathon — it had the greatest number of international athletes ever.

Include this event into your curriculum at school and let your students participate in all sport activities as possible.
Discuss the values of sharing, mutual respect and self-improvement that embody the spirit of sport.
