As we know, every year, on 18 May, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) organises International Museum Day (IMD), a global event highlighting the transformative role of museums in society. 

In 2025, IMD will explore “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities”, focusing on how museums can navigate and contribute to a world undergoing profound social, technological, and environmental shifts.

Finally. Museums understood their active role in a new word and new communities!

"The future is in continuous flux—a dynamic current of possibilities waiting to be imagined and shaped. It isn’t something that simply arrives; it’s something we create."

The 2025 theme embraces this ever-shifting landscape with a campaign visual that evolves, adapts, and reinvents itself.

I do remember long time ago, I include the museums visits into my curricula at school and students loved very much.

They began to see art in a different way. And the way they transmitted how they looked the objects they were admiring astonished the guide who was conduct the visit in classical way. So he began to talk to the students, asking them what they were seeing in their own interpretation.

Tomorrow the International Museum Day, explore the richness and diversity of the museums. Discover in school visit or with family fascinating collections, and enjoy the special programs designed for the whole families.

The day draw attention to educational activities that are hosted by museums, such as school visits, guided tours and workshops. 

Together, let us embark on a journey to museums and learn in a new regard about modern communities or historic past.

Schools : World Book & Copyright Day ! Read your way !

Books are like a window onto another world – with each new page, they introduce us to new people, new cultures and new ideas.

Every year, on 23 April, UNESCO celebrates World Book and Copyright Day to recognize the power of books as a bridge between generations and across cultures.

This date holds immense symbolism in world literature, marking the death of several renowned authors, including William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.

"World Book Day is an opportunity to celebrate the power of the written word and defend books as symbols of hope and dialogue."

This date was a natural choice for UNESCO's General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone to access books.

To date, UNESCO has designated 25 World Book Capitals, from Madrid, Spain, in 2001, to Rio de Janeiro,Brazil,in 2025. This year, the Brazilian city is implementing a project that underlines how books can bring about social change – for example, through literacy, education and poverty eradication – and create sustainable economic benefits.

St. George became a heroic figure of legend who was declared Patron Saint of England in 1348.

• San Jordi festivity (Catalonia)

World Book and Copyright Day takes place today, with festivities such as the Catalan Sant Jordi – to mark Saint George's Day, in honour of Catalonia's patron saint. 

World Book and Copyright Day is an opportunity to recognize the power of books to change our lives for the better and to support books and those who produce them.

Teachers and parents can start enjoying this lovely day by making Sant Jordi crafts with their students or children and telling them the Legend of Sant Jordi using the printable coloring sheet.

• Education:

April is a month full of good things to celebrate about literature.

April 23 Shakespeare death and April 22 Cervantes death. It's a day where books are the center of activities in schools and at home or virtual events all around the world. 

April 2nd was Christian Andersen's birthday and International Children's Book Day. 

Reading a book is, in our days, a large concept to adults and to children. All formats are available for those who love to read.

The goal is to engage people in reading, and to have fun doing so! 

The book covers are incredibly important and play a vital role in our buying decisions. We’re all extremely judgmental about covers. 

Books and reading comfort us and offers and escapism, we’ve all needed some  times. We're always glad to see when a title has been well presented, as a good cover can make or break a title.

• Activities:

Teachers will find different ideas and some funny activities to motivate their students to read and to love books on this blog.

You can also organize different events at your school:

 

• Give a little flower to every student who enter at the school library to get a book or e-book to read! 

• Relay readings of books and plays; 

• Distribution of bookmarks; 

• Reading contests. Announcement of the winners of school literary competitions. Students love contests!

• Take this opportunity to let your students discover something new from what they're used to read. Surprise them! ;
• 
  
• Ask your students to leave a book on a park bench, metro  or bus seat with a note saying “Happy Book and Copyright Day !”;

• Find out how to send to students old books to schools and libraries in countries facing a post-disaster situation. Mozambique for exemple. They love this activity;

• 
  
• Educate students on books pirating: the respect for copyright encourages the dissemination of knowledge and rewards their creators and publishers;
• 
  

• Educate them never throw away their books, getting them or the school involved in local community or online book swapping and donation campaigns and initiatives.
• 
  

• Plan local reading events in schools and libraries and invite a famous guest to read. Authors are welcome at school, always.

Happy Easter ! Activities to do inside !

Spring is back!  But after two or three days, Winter came back. Cold, wind, snow and rain. So I can't think to publish a poem about Spring. Perhaps a poem about Easter? Let's see if I can...

Today April 19 is Saturday alleluia. Just a day to Easter Sunday. Easter is the most important Christian religious holiday and widely regarded as the second most popular holiday in general after Christmas season.

The students and teachers got some days as school break of Easter in the most countries in Europe and elsewhere.

In addition to the fun and candy, Easter is also a time of reflection for many, with traditions that commemorate the significance of the holiday for Christians around the world.

Easter 2025 is the coldest and stormy weather  we've had in many years. Nothing comparable to previous years. It's so sad to kids and families! Impossible to  do the traditional host of Easter egg hunts outdoor.

But there are other activities inside. The students who stay in town with their parents, they have good choices to have fun and learn a bit as well.

Museums, Luis de Camões 500 years,  Google games, reading on pc or smartphone at home, cinema, Snow White or Minecraft movie for example to kids, Kaiju nº 8 for adolescents music, science on a virtual interactive visit on the internet, and so much more are offering different activities. Just enjoy!

I would like to share with you a message of hope. Planet Earth is complaining for all the bad things human kind are doing. I believe in the new generations, Let's continue our green education.

 

Life can toss us down and make us fall out of the blue, but the hope inside us will pick us up again and again!

We do not lose heart when we fail in life, a storm can't  shoot us down, Must be positive.

We must be grateful! We have our home isn't it ? Stay positive ! Always !

Who knows tomorrow, Easter Sunday we will present us a sunny day ?!
