Warner Bros. and HBO are producing a feature film titled Game of Thrones: Aegon's Conquest, penned by screenwriter Beau Willimon. This film will adapt the history of how Aegon and his sisters took over the continent.

For a deep dive into the scale and history the upcoming film will cover on the big screen:

News of the movie first broke last month, and the only plot details announced are that it will follow the original conqueror Aegon I Targaryen from George R. R. Martin’s expansive A Song of Ice and Fire novels. The Targaryens are the dragon-riding, incest-loving rulers of Westeros in Martin’s books and HBO’s Game of Thrones universe, which includes the prequels House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

👉So, Season 3 of the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon premieres on June 21, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max. The eight-episode season will roll out with new episodes dropping weekly until the finale on August 9

The third season picks up immediately where Season 2 left off, escalating the Dance of the Dragons as the civil war engulfs Westeros.
  • Premiere Date: Sunday, June 21, 2026
  • Platform: HBO Max
  • Total Episodes: 8
  • Finale Date: August 9, 2026

  • For the next three years, through 2028, HBO is going to release at least one season of its Game of Thrones shows each year.
But first, and probably even better for fans, we have two new seasons of those shows in 2026.

    👩👨Education:

As I wrote, some years ago, a Narrative text lets us know something. It tells us what happened. It tells us a story. Our students love to hear narrations.

They strain to hear the latest news among their friends about what happened over the weekend and they rush to see the latest films that promise a good story! We know that! Look at movies, like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl's book (children and teens) by the wonderful and creative Tim Burton, or After, some of the last teen films.

"Movies present language in a way that is often more natural than that found in course-books, the fantastic visual context aids understanding and boosts listening, and students just simply love them."

    Steve Louw

Movies based on children and teen books are an attractive and enjoyable digital resource to motivate students to read in school.

So, we can motivate young readers, presenting literary books trough movies. Gorgeous educational resource, I can say!

Take the example of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl or Alice in the Wonderland by Lewis Carroll or Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak (children and teens).

Adolescents all over the world were addict fans. First of the movies or Tv series, after reading the books.

Now there will be others for example Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell - a wonderful movie that introduce Hamlet by William Shakespeare, or The fault in our Stars by John Green and so many others...

Hoping teachers can continue to explore The Game of Thrones at school. George R. R. Martin one of the best science-fiction writers.

"Game of Thrones is a genuine masterpiece of modern fantasy, bringing together the best the genre has to offer. Magic, mystery, intrigue, romance, and adventure fill these pages and transport us to a world unlike any we have ever experienced."

Already hailed as a classic, George R. R. Martin’s stunning series is destined to stand as one of the great achievements of imaginative fiction.
