"Silver Jubilee Celebration of International Mother Language Day !"

The 25th anniversary of International Mother Language Day celebrates a quarter-century of efforts to preserve linguistic diversity and promote mother tongues. This milestone emphasizes the importance of language preservation in safeguarding cultural heritage, improving education, and fostering more peaceful societies.

Significance of International Mother Language

Languages are essential carriers of identity, tradition, and history. The loss of a language leads to the disappearance of unique cultural expressions, indigenous knowledge, and traditional practices

This day raises awareness about the urgent need to document, revitalize, and protect endangered languages.

With approximately 8,324 languages in the world today, many are at risk of disappearing due to globalization and societal changes.

Ensuring that education systems support the right to learn in one's mother tongue is crucial for improving learning outcomes, as students who are taught in a language they fully understand show better comprehension, engagement, and critical thinking skills.

World Atlas of Languages (Beta Version)

The World Atlas of Languages is an interactive and dynamic online tool that documents different aspects and features of language status in countries and languages around the world.  It aims to provide  a detailed record of languages as communicative tools and knowledge resources in their sociocultural and socio-political context.

Education

Quality education should be delivered in the language spoken at home. However, this minimum standard is not met for hundreds of millions, limiting their ability to develop foundations for learning.

Increasingly, information and knowledge are key determinants of wealth creation, social transformation and human development.

"Literacy programmes and methodologies are most relevant and respond to the needs of learners when they are context-related, bilingual and support intercultural understanding within the framework of lifelong learning."

  • The role of teachers:

The overall aim of IMLD 2025 is to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 by recognizing the role of teachers in promoting mother languages and multilingual teaching and learning through reading and technology. in different languages.

The digital revolution has highlighted the digital divide in language representation. Less than a hundred languages are significantly used in the digital world

"Increasing linguistic representation in digital platforms, AI tools, and online education is essential to safeguard linguistic diversity in the modern era."

Students :

-Share key messages via social networks with students of the world. You must celebrate the Jubilee of International Mother Language.

International Mother Language Day is a reminder of the importance of linguistic and cultural diversity and the need to support and celebrate mother tongues.

By promoting mother tongues in education and online, we can help to preserve linguistic diversity and strengthen communities.

By valuing and supporting mother tongues, we can create a more inclusive and harmonious society. It’s a call to action for all of us to do something positive to support language diversity and multilingualism.

Science : moon cycle & game:

Students can easily access the new Doodle game through the Google homepage, where they can dive into the fun and adventure that Google has prepared for all. Teachers will choose if the students can play on mobile or desktop devices.

As students may have guessed from the name, The Rise of the Half Moon February is a game based on the lunar cycle. It's a card game that combines both puzzle and strategy elements, with they needing to beat the bot (represented by the Moon) to succeed.

The game presents us with a board and a set of cards showing different phases of the Moon. Students and the Moon character take it in turns to place cards on the board, scoring points as they go.

There are several ways to score points, and bonus points are awarded at the end of each round based on how many cards they have control of.

The rules and points-scoring may sound complicated at first. However, if they make sure to play the tutorial in full, everything becomes very clear after a couple of rounds. Which is when you can start scheming strategically on how to win.

There are initially three levels to play, at which point you'll be awarded a wildcard based on the lunar cycle. However, there are four wildcards to collect, so there are actually 12 levels to beat in total.

Education : Best of 2024, semester#2

AI at school
via Google Images Archive

My usual readers. teachers and students could read some tips about AI in education on my last post Education: Best of 2024 - semester1. I hope it could be useful for all of you.

Recent technological advancements like AI have brought numerous opportunities for teachers and students

AI enables the access of new educational materials online and the swift sharing of information, facilitating seamless and secure connections among learners.

"Physical distances and language barriers are no longer constraints for students and teachers, who can now engage in virtual teaching and learning from virtually anywhere. The emergence of distance or online learning technologies has paved the way for tailored coursework and blended learning approaches."

I, Human
Ai, Automation and the Quest to Reclaim
What Makes Us Unique
Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic

But challenges to. It will be interesting to introduce you an interrogation... "Will artificial intelligence improve the way we work and live, or will it alienate us? The choice is ours. What will we decide?"

So, I invite you, teachers and older students to read the boook I, Human by Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic. In his book, the psychologist Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic offers a guide for reclaiming ourselves in a world in which most of our decisions will be made for us.

"Though AI has the potential to change our lives for the better", he argues, "AI is also worsening our bad tendencies, making us more distracted, selfish, biased, narcissistic, entitled, predictable, and impatient."

Filled with big-think fascinations and practical wisdom, I, Human is the book we need to thrive in the future.

Teaching is not an easy job, But it's one of the most rewarding. Being a teacher is a really complex job and the increased mainstream adoption of AI in schools or universities means the relationship between teachers and students will undoubtedly be different.

My special choice of the #1st semester 2024? Games Awards 2024 : The winner is... Astro Bot !

Why ? It's the new era of technology. Students love games in school. They learn better and happier. And Astro Bot is pure joy.

It's like fragment of childhood sealed away and suddenly uncorked. It's like jumping into a ball pit as a grown-arse adult. It's magic.

Astro's core move set is identical to previous entries, maintaining his ability to jump, hover, punch, and spin-attack, as well as being additionally granted the ability to ledge grab. The ability to swim underwater also returns from Astro Bot Rescue Mission, having been absent in Astro's Playroom.

Astro Bot has won the top prize at the videogame industry's biggest awards ceremony. The Games Awards 2024

Hoping to have inspire you as my usual readers, teachers in your lessons all over the last year. And students who read to my publications.

First of all, we teachers don't want to be replaced for robots in the classroom!

May we never forget the love o teaching or help students to learn. We don't want to watch robots in our place.

Teachers teach Peace to this new generation! Life is not a game. Students fight for human teachers in the classroom. You love robots? Only as helpers.

Technology is technology. People are human as you. Love your teachers. Help them not to give up from teaching.

Teachers have hope, continue to teach with passion, inspiring your students to be better human and new citizens in the future searching to live in peace and respect their teachers.

Prepare students to the new world and a new way to learn with your help. Give them hope, joy, serenity. And continue to feel happy to be a teacher.

Your, our mission from the heart!
