This date holds immense symbolism in world literature, marking the death of several renowned authors, including William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
"World Book Day is an opportunity to celebrate the power of the written word and defend books as symbols of hope and dialogue."
UN
This date was a natural choice for UNESCO's General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone to access books.
To date, UNESCO has designated 25 World Book Capitals, from Madrid, Spain, in 2001, to Rio de Janeiro,Brazil,in 2025. This year, the Brazilian city is implementing a project that underlines how books can bring about social change – for example, through literacy, education and poverty eradication – and create sustainable economic benefits.
World Book and Copyright Day is an opportunity to recognize the power of books to change our lives for the better and to support books and those who produce them.
April is a month full of good things to celebrate about literature.
April 23 Shakespeare death and April 22 Cervantes death. It's a day where books are the center of activities in schools and at home or virtual events all around the world.
Reading a book is, in our days, a large concept to adults and to children. All formats are available for those who love to read.

The goal is to engage people in reading, and to have fun doing so!
The book covers are incredibly important and play a vital role in our buying decisions. We’re all extremely judgmental about covers.
Books and reading comfort us and offers and escapism, we’ve all needed some times. We're always glad to see when a title has been well presented, as a good cover can make or break a title.

Activities:
Teachers will find different ideas and some funny activities to motivate their students to read and to love books on this blog.
You can also organize different events at your school:
Give a little flower to every student who enter at the school library to get a book or e-book to read!
Relay readings of books and plays;
Distribution of bookmarks;
Reading contests. Announcement of the winners of school literary competitions. Students love contests!
Take this opportunity to let your students discover something new from what they're used to read. Surprise them! ;
Ask your students to leave a book on a park bench, metro or bus seat with a note saying “Happy Book and Copyright Day !”;
Find out how to send to students old books to schools and libraries in countries facing a post-disaster situation. Mozambique for exemple. They love this activity;
Educate students on books pirating: the respect for copyright encourages the dissemination of knowledge and rewards their creators and publishers;
Educate them never throw away their books, getting them or the school involved in local community or online book swapping and donation campaigns and initiatives.
Plan local reading events in schools and libraries and invite a famous guest to read. Authors are welcome at school, always.

"Books, in all their forms, allow us to learn and to keep ourselves informed. They also entertain us and help us to understand the world. For books to be able to unleash their full potential, it is essential that they reflect the linguistic diversity of our world. However, this is far from being the case today; the majority of works are published in just a handful of languages."
Spring is back! But after two or three days, Winter came back. Cold, wind, snow and rain. So I can't think to publish a poem about Spring. Perhaps a poem about Easter? Let's see if I can...
The cold earth slept below; Above the cold sky shone;
Percy Bysshe Shelley
Today April 19 is Saturday alleluia. Just a day to Easter Sunday. Easteris the most important Christian religious holiday and widely regarded as the second most popular holiday in general after Christmas season.
The students and teachers got some days as school break of Easter in the most countries in Europe and elsewhere.
In addition to the fun and candy, Easter is also a time of reflection for many, with traditions that commemorate the significance of the holiday for Christians around the world.
Easter 2025 is the coldest and stormy weather we've had in many years. Nothing comparable to previous years.It's so sad to kids and families! Impossible to do the traditional host of Easter egg hunts outdoor.

But there are other activities inside. The studentswho stay in town with their parents, they have good choices to have fun and learn a bit as well.
I would like to share with you a message of hope. Planet Earth is complaining for all the bad things human kind are doing. I believe in the new generations, Let's continue our green education.
Life can toss us down and make us fall out of the blue, but the hope inside us will pick us up again and again!
We do not lose heart when we fail in life, a storm can't shoot us down, Must be positive.
We must be grateful! We have our home isn't it ? Stay positive ! Always !
Who knows tomorrow, Easter Sunday we will present us a sunny day ?!
What a moment of the year! Ah, Spring! The season of sun and flowers. And new leaves on the trees ! Walking on nature, sunny days, admiring the new season and its beauty, And a Pink Moon?! Wow!
Today, 12 April, we have the Pink Moon. As the Pink Moon rises in the night sky this weekend, reaching its peak brilliance at 1:22 am, it is set to bring more than just celestial beauty.
The Pink Moon 2025 will light up the skies this night on April 12, 2025, marking the first full moon of pring. This lunar event, which will occur at 8:22 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), is a spectacle not to be missed. While the name “Pink Moon” suggests a pink hue, the moon will appear as a regular full moon in the sky.

Why It’s Called the Pink Moon ?
Despite its name, the Pink Moon will not be tinged rose. Its title is derived from the seasonal bloom of the phlox flower, a symbol of renewal and growth. Other traditional names include the Sprouting Grass Moon,Egg Moon, and Fish Moon, each pointing to fertility, abundance and new beginnings.
Why is April the pink moon?
The full moon earned the name “Pink Moon” due to its timing with the blooming of early spring wildflowers.
How often is a pink moon?
A full moon occurs once a month, and the one that appears in April is traditionally called the Pink Moon.
Sky-gazers may notice April's full moon looks smaller than usual this month, and despite its “pink moon” namesake, the orb will have a white-golden hue.
April’s micromoon will be the smallest of the three micromoons in 2025, with the next one occurring in May, according to EarthSky.
For the best view of this micromoon, weather conditions allowing, NASA recommends using a pair of binoculars or a telescope and finding a spot with minimal light pollution.
Oh, my ! It should offer some pretty photo opportunities for sky watchers. Ask students to take some photos if they are lucky or capture small videos (some seconds) with their smartphones and tablets to explore in Science classroom next week or after school holidays.
After Summer holiday, teachers and students will discuss their experiences and knowledge about Pink Moon. I'm sure!

"Importantly, sport transcends boundaries and promotes tolerance, perseverance, and respect within and between cultures … to promote just, peaceful, and inclusive societies."
President of the 78th session of the General Assembly, Mr. Dennis Francis, Remarks at the commemoration of World Football Day, 22 May 2024
The adoption of this Day signifies the increasing recognition by the UN of the positive influence that sport can have on the advancement of human rights, and social and economic development.
Due to its vast reach, unparalleled popularity and foundation of positive values, sport is ideally positioned to contribute towards the United Nations’ objectives for development and peace.
"Leveling the Playing Field: Sport for Social Inclusion."
This year’s theme aims to challenge stereotypes, promote equal opportunities, and enable inclusive sport for all, regardless of age, gender, or race. It highlights the role of sport as a unifying force that fosters inclusion and more equitable societies, while being a powerful platform for dialogue to tackle prejudices and inspire positive change across the world.
Through inspiring conversations, IDSDP strives to raise awareness, celebrate success stories, strengthen partnerships, and advocate for solutions to critical challenges. IDSDP 2025 will serve as a platform to explore solutions on how sport can serve as a tool towards greater social inclusion and progress.

UNESCO BMW envisions a world where sports play a key role in promoting peace, health, and social well-being. The organization strongly advocates for physical activity, recognizing its vital role in maintaining mental and physical health.
Today, depression and stress have become widespread issues, and the lack of physical activity has further aggravated these problems. To address this, UNESCO BMW is actively promoting yoga and meditation as effective methods for stress management and overall well-being.
