Schools ! Let's join the Junior World Food Day : #WaterIsLife ! Resources & Activities

World Food Day

https://www.fao.org/world-food-day/

Last 16th October the World Food Day has been celebrated as every year since 1981. An opportunity to (re)think how we manage a finite resource, the water, in degradation and over-exploited by sectors such as agriculture and industry.

Water is essential to life on Earth. It covers the majority of the Earth's surface, makes up over 50% of our bodies, produces our food, and supports livelihoods.

But this precious resource is not infinite and we need to stop taking it for granted. What we eat, and how that food is produced all affect water. That's way we celebrate every year The Word Water Day

Together, we can take water action for food and be the change.

Water is Life, Water is Food
Leave No One Behind

  • Theme 2023: "Water is Life"

With the slogan ‘’Water is life, water is food. Leave no one behind’’ the campaign, is communicating in over 50 languages across more than 150 countries.

FAO/ UN are calling for action from governments, the private sector, civil society, and individuals, including youth, to safeguard water.

Junior World Food Day

The Global World Food Day Ceremony took place last Monday, 16 October 2023. Ok! But don’t miss the third edition of Junior World Food Day, tomorrow 19 October

This fun-filled event will feature: stories, music, art and dance

  • Education: Junior World Food Day at school!

This unique event brings together chefs, influencers, innovators, and special guests with young minds for an engaging, cross-cultural conversation.

A cooking show as well to inspire water action for food.

During this important event with inspiring stories, music and art, there will be a live performance of the 2023 youth music video by the Piccola Orchestra di Tor Pignattara and friends.

In the spirit of leaving no one behind, FAO teamed up with The Kabin Studio Cork and POTP to produce this year’s Junior #WorldFoodDay anthem.

Teachers, invite your students to listen to this song and share it with your friends to encourage them to take #WaterAction every day!

July & August in Review. Teacher's Day ! The teachers we need for the education we want !

World Teacher's Day 2023

Being a teacher provides a unique opportunity to make a transformative and lasting impact on the lives of others, contribute to shaping sustainable futures and achieve personal fulfillment.

World Teachers’ Day (5 October) this year is observed under the theme

"The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage".

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) highlights the importance of putting at the top of the global agenda stopping the decline in the number of teachers and starting to increase that figure.

World Teacher's Day 2023

"We call upon countries to ensure that teaching is transformed everywhere into a more attractive and valorised profession where teachers are valued, trusted, and adequately supported to meet the needs of every learner. Bold actions must be taken, if we are to reverse the current decline and successfully increase teacher numbers."

Joint message UNESCO/ UNICEF/ ILO

Some important aims:

The 2023 celebrations will aim to put the importance of stopping the decline in the number of teachers and then starting to increase that number at the top of the global agenda.

Through various activities, all the countries will advocate for a dignified and valued teaching profession, analyse their challenges, and showcase inspiring practices to attract, retain and motivate teachers and educators.

It will also examine the ways in which education systems, societies, communities, and families recognise, appreciate, and actively support teachers.

World Teacher's Day 2023

My thoughts:

Teachers, don't give up! There a lot of difficulties in the present era we are living! War, human rights, violence, freedom, climate change, students suffering the burnout of the last two, three years.

We are a reference to our students ! How many of boys and girls we saved along our life as teachers by helping them to work about their inner aspirations.

Happy Teacher's Day! Don't give up! You're the beat of education!
