As we already know, International Museum Day is organised on 18 May each year or around this date.
The events and activities planned to celebrate International Museum Day can last a day, a weekend or an entire week.
IMD was celebrated for the first time 40 years ago. All around the world, more and more museums participate in International Museum Day. Last year, more than 37,000 museums participated in the event in about 158 countries and territories.
This year's theme, "Museums for Education and Research", underscore the pivotal role of cultural institutions in providing a holistic educational experience.
This day pushes for more conscious, sustainable and inclusive world.
Museums are vital venues for cultural exchange and enrichment, as well as for the development of peaceful coexistence and cooperation among nations and communities.
This day or entire weekend or week encourages people and students to visit museums dedicated to many fields of human endeavor such as agriculture, fashion, astronomy, archaeology, art, and natural history.
The day also draw attention to traditional educational activities that are hosted by museums, such as school visits, guided tours and workshops.
Together, let us embark on a journey to museums and learn about our historic past.
For IMD 2024 ICOM invite people, teachers, parents, students, universities and schools to rethink education and imagine a future where knowledge sharing transcends barriers, where innovation unites with tradition.
Museums preserve heritage for future generations, promote cultural learning, provide equal access to culture and spread the values on which humanity is based.
Their function in terms of social inclusion is also vital to help keep societies together, and they play a major role in the creative and civics education.
The authors also draw attention to traditional educational activities that are hosted by museums, such as school visits, guided tours and workshops.
Don't forget as well virtual guided tours that some museums offer to teachers and students because many museums worldwide are forced to close their doors.
Young people are visiting more and more the museums. Teachers could be good guides to help young people to enjoy Museums live or virtual visits.
Teachers have an entire weekend to talk about art and culture visiting museums live or virtual and celebrating museums at school.

Include Museum events into your school curriculum. Invite your students to a school visit a museum;
Ask every student to choose a painting or sculpture, some chef-d'oeuvre from the the different views at the a museum to getinspiration to write creative stories and drawing some interesting works;
Explore a virtual school exchange to develop during the cultural week;
Another activity could be a #selfie at the Museum. During a visit to a Museum near your school, invite the students to snap selfies with an artefact of their choice to a project at school,
The Wikimedia movement is celebrating International Museum Day by enhancing information about museums around the world and representing this year’s theme: Museums for Education and Research. Individual Wikimedians, affiliates, and user groups, are invited to respond to three challenges to increase museum coverage on Wikimedia: translation, media, and data.

As I do during the first week in January every year, I took some time off to relax with family. I went for some days to a Spa in front of the Atlantic ocean, the other side of street. So good! The weather was marvelous, sunny day, 21º degrees. Wow! We deserved it. after long weeks raining.

I'm respecting the Covid-19, now Omicron, measures sinceDecember. Yes, we are better than most European countries because we have 90% vaccinated people. However we must be very prudent, using the mask and keeping social distance.
Christmas season in family not easy, but better than last year. We use always masks in the street, at the cinema or some concert. We have our vaccination certificate with us to go to the movies or at a restaurant.

Well, school year was not bad. In-person lessons have been possible 2nd and 3rd trimester 2021. Students and teachers finished the school year with satisfaction and joy.
Some cases of Covid-19 but the classes continued. Teachers were replaced. Students accomplished pandemic rules staying at home. They could continue their studies on distance learning.
Better than the past years, 2019 and 2020. Most schools have been closed. Distance learning was the great allied for students and teachers.
Students don't like distance learning. However they received meaningful feedback on their progress and support until they achieve the goals.

Children an teen are happier at school, they learn better, develop social skills, they need to be among their school mates, learn in-person lessons, having teachers near. It was possible.

The Tokyo 2020officially opened on July 23, 2021 with the traditional Olympic Games Opening Ceremony seen by three billion people around the world.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games started on 23 July 2021 and will end during Summer season in Europe and some other continents, next 08 August 2021.

In the United States and other countries, the students would come back to school but we are not sure about in-person lessons due the difficult pandemic time. However students and teachers could follow on national television Tokyo 2020. They will be talking about their heroes, the athletes from different sports. Teachers are already preparing their in-person lessons or distance learning and they will include the Olympic Games and sport values into school curricula, for sure. They can't lose this wonderful experience! Such a great resource for different curricula.
Games Vision are the most innovative in history. It brought positive reform to the world by building on three core concepts:
"Striving for your personal best” (Achieving Personal Best),
“Accepting one another” (Unity in Diversity) and
“Passing on Legacy for the future” (Connecting to Tomorrow).
Under the tagline, “Know Differences, Show Differences”, Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) is essential to achieving the Games Vision and delivering successful Games. As such, D&I is being incorporated into all the aspects of Games planning and operations.

So, The Olympics may be thought mostly to be the preserve of the young - from 12 Syria’s Hend Zaza to - but there are some sports where experience brings an advantage - to 66. The Australian equestrian Mary Hanna is 66 – the oldest competitor at Tokyo 2020, her sixth Games.

Every four years, the Olympic Games create worldwide excitement as athletes from across the globe compete for a prestigious place on the podium. With stories of hard-work, determination, sacrifice, Olympians are great role models for students of any age to show that practice, practice, practice is the way to achieve their goals.
From sports to geography, I picked some of the best Olympic-themed teaching resources to help you encourage both individual achievement and teamwork, while inspiring your students to strive for gold in the classroom. Wow! It will be amazing.
I am sure that a lot of students will want to talk about it. Japanese students are the luckiest because some of them are at the Olympic stadium with their parents watching live or participating as volunteers.
But there will be a big number all over the world that are watching live on television or on the Internet day by day, following their favorite athletes and sports. And the most curious will know a lot about OG sharing ideas in-person lessons or distance learning.
Teachers have been watching Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as well, and they are wondering how they might include the OG into the curriculum if they are teaching at this time of the year. Pandemic Covid-19 changed a lot time of school teaching as we all know.
As I wrote, I will share with educators some subjects that might interest them for now and/or next school season.Tokyo 2020 is a very good subject. Values in sport too.

To produce the Olympic medals, The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) conducted the “Tokyo 2020 Medal Project” to collect small electronic devices such as used mobile phones from all over Japan.
This project makes Tokyo 2020 the first in the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to involve citizens in the production of medals, and to manufacture the medals using recycled metals.
